Fall Fun

This weekend we took an hour drive to a popular farm known for its 8 acre corn maze. It was a beautiful day and K is at a great age to really enjoy all that they had to offer.
The maze was incredible!
It took us about an hour to get through it and find all of the clues along the way.
 Pig races!
Pumpkin patch!
 She found "the one!"
When we got home it was time to get to work, and by get to work, I mean E. J. get to work.
Once E. J. cleaned out the pumpkins, I got to work and made us some tasty pumpkin seeds.
We ended the night by turning off the lights to enjoy the pumpkins.
We kept the lights off and Kathryn proceeded to tell us her spookiest story :).
I think we'll be back next year to do it all over again!

Fall weekend

We haven't had a low-key weekend in a while. So with rain in the forecast, it seemed like a must to just take it easy.
You can find Yankee Candle's 'Autumn Wreath' burning in our house every fall!
On Saturday we hit up the first showing of The Boxtrolls. It wasn't E. J's or my favorite kid's movie, but K enjoyed it!
Then a trip to the grocery store. Who is this big girl?
We picked up the new Jello collegiate molds at the grocery store and prepped our Texas A&M logo Jello once we got home (and before the game started). They're nearly impossible to get out of the molds, but we were able jiggle a few out (although it's really hard to tell in the picture).
Smiles before the Aggie game (none during it).
There was also some crafting this weekend...and lots, and lots, and lots of glitter.
This morning started with a late breakfast followed by a movie in Mommy and Daddy's bed. She's been obsessed with the 80's David Bowie movie, Labyrinth.
We got out of the house for a walk and got caught in the rain :).
She tells us that pulling her pants up like this makes her run super fast.
While I was making dinner tonight, it was strangely quiet. Put this in the record books, folks! Since when does she go to her room and tuck herself in for a nap?
Especially based off of a conversation we had at the beginning of last week (the teacher's at her school had an in-service day, so K and I were home together).
To top off the weekend, the three of us tackled a puzzle before bed.
As most weekends go, I don't think any of us are ready to get out of weekend mode.

Camping

E. J.'s been wanting to take Kathryn camping for a while (and also finally break out the tent and blow-up mattress we received as wedding gifts seven (7!) years ago!). So when we saw that cooler weather was predicted, we went for it.

I was a little skeptical, since I'm not really a camp-y person, but I was pleasantly surprised by the grounds, which were conveniently only 20 minutes from our house.

I was only able to leave work a tad-bit early, so when we got there we had to get to business and set-up camp fast since there wasn't much daylight left.

We were all starving by the time the tent was finished and I cooked dinner - hamburgers. I think the hungry was talking, but Kathryn wouldn't stop talking about how delicious the hamburgers were :). They were pretty tasty on the grill!
Naturally, we had to do s'mores!
I don't ever want to go camping without a blow-up mattress.
It was in the 50s during the night. Between the three of us sleeping together in the double bed, plenty of blankets and layers, we were able to keep plenty warm.
We survived the night!
The important stuff: making breakfast tacos!
Hanging out in the doggy room.
The little helper taking down the tent.
The three of us had a really great time (I was surprised at myself for actually enjoying it!). I think more camping may be in our future since this test run went so well. Most importantly, K won't stop talking about how much fun she had, which made us both happy.

Now, if the camp site could somehow have an on site Starbucks, I'd be there every weekend.
I picked this up after we got home and went grocery shopping. A hot shower and this drink made camping even better!
