Just Dance

Lately, I've been using our Wii frequently and dancing along to the game "Just Dance" - which is a ton of fun and I think I need the second edition now!

I decided to dive right into some dancing after dinner on Monday (note to self: don't go crazy dancing right after drinking a ton of water and eating dinner...will suffer from a bad tummy ache all night long). However, our little dancing queen had a blast dancing on her own.

Happy Wednesday! The weekend is close enough now I can taste it :).

Afternoon Fun

We didn't carpool yesterday because E. J. had to work late. I was feeling generous, so Kathryn and I started to refilling the water troths for the outdoor animals and feeding some of them as well.
(Monday morning modeling)
My little pant-less helper
Then things started to fun. We were only outside for 15 minutes, but I couldn't resist.
Soaked...
And loving it :)
Not afraid to get dirty
Best 15 minutes of my day.

New Firsts

We are constantly in awe of this little girl, especially when she does something brand new. This weekend gave us a few more of those precious firsts.

Friday morning before we headed to work
While we were at work Kathryn and my mother-in-law went shopping and she bought her a top-of-the-line toddler toilet. When they got home, she put Kathryn on it and she actually peed! And just to prove that it wasn't a fluke, K proceeded to do it one more time before we picked her up after work.

Never have I ever thought I'd be so excited or in awe over pee! (Just one of the many ways motherhood changes you...me).

Friday night E. J. worked an off-duty job and didn't get home until 2 a.m. When I went to check on Kathryn and say goodnight around 10 p.m., I decided to scoop K out of her crib and bring her to our bed for some company. She was out cold as I walked her to our bedroom.

K has never slept in our room, let alone in our bed - she's been in her crib since the first night she came home with us, so it was sweet to have her just laying next to me. Frankly it's the only way she would lay next to me. This girl doesn't sit still for more than 5 seconds.

When E. J. got home 4 hours later, I woke up from 4 peaceful hours of snuggling and returned the little Bug back to her crib:)
On Saturday we ran some errands in town.
Testing out some camo-camping chairs
We stopped at Chick-Fil-A for a quick lunch and ordered her 4 nuggets (I don't feel too bad about their nuggets since we don't eat out much and they aren't as "bad" as traditional fast/gross food), yet somehow we ended up with the meal.

Had we known we were getting the meal, we would have ordered fruit instead of fries, but K certainly wasn't complaining that she got fries, so we let her have his first "meal" at a restaurant and she ate the entire thing!
While we were out, we bought K a potty for our house. (Sorry, Kathryn. When your parents are on a tight budget, you get the cheapest $10 toilet, but you can pee in style while you're at your grandparents house).
She actually went to the bathroom again when E. J. set it up when we got home. She hopped on it herself like she's been doing it for years. Impressive!

We spent today around the house, since it's still too hot to do much outside. Kathryn found time for some light reading...no kidding. She went to the bookshelf in the living room, grabbed a few of her books, walked to her bedroom, and sat her chair while she read.
Time to conquer another week!

iPhone Dump

This week seems to be flying by and I'm exhausted...hence my lack of posts. Since nothing new is really happening, I thought I would unload some pictures taken on my phone from the past week.
It seems as though intense heat in my car along with the combination of my sunglasses sitting there all day made one of the lenses pop out
Helping dad get hay for the horses
Becoming quite the little self-feeder
Loves to take her raisins, bring them to the couch and eat them right out of the box
Toddler version of a wine & cheese party: Provolone and grapes
(seriously, this girl is obsessed with provolone)

15 Month Checkup

Today was my last flex day off from work, which means next week we're back to "normal" business hours, which is nice for a lot of reasons. But, I'm definitely going to miss my four day work week.

I took advantage of my last day off and Katie and I headed to her 15-month appointment. What a difference from her one-year appointment! She was walking around the waiting room and just checking everyone and everything out.
She was super brave and just did a tiny pout when she had her shot. Overall, it was a smooth appointment with a clean bill of health.
15-month stats:
25.6 lb (86th percentile)
32" (91st percentile)
Diapers: size 4 (I think we're nearing size 5)
Clothes: 12 month - 2T

Our doctor also said it's okay that she has a bottle or two a day to be sure she's getting enough milk, which was good hear and makes me feel better!

After her appointment, we ran a few errands and then headed to Chick-Fil-A for my favorite chargrilled chicken sandwich. I thought Kathryn would be in the mood to have some of her food too, but the 5 minute ride there pooped her out and she even slept after I got her out of the car seat, ordered lunch, and as I ate lunch.
Sweet girl

Stooge

I'm sorry, Kathryn. Mommy gave you another haircut and it resulted in you looking like Moe from the Three Stooges. But, it simply needed to be done - your bangs were a hot mess.

Obviously, you're not happy about it
Thankfully, you didn't let it stop you from having a good time playing with one of your favorite toys - your shopping cart! (Thanks, Jen!!)
Let's hope your hair grows in nicely in the future so we don't have any more hair-style craziness.

15 Months

15 months has come so quickly. Today was my day off from work, so we took a walk and I couldn't help but be so surprised that K is growing up so quickly.
She's definitely got a personality that's silly, funny, and she even has a little 'tude.
This newest trick started this week. Climbing up on the table = not cool. Although she'll give you a big smile even though she knows it's not where she belongs.
Not interested in the month-by-month pictures
She's a mover
But all around very happy little girl
We have her 15 month appointment next week and I can't wait to find out her latest stats.

We love you, Kathryn!

Dance Party

Dance parties often take place at our house most evenings. They're pretty simple but seriously special. Here's a glimpse of last night :).

Bottle Battles 2011

Going away from the bottle is truly the first "problem" we've had with K, so I really can't complain, but boy has this been a pain.

Honestly, it really doesn't bother me that much that she still occasionally uses a bottle - it's not like she's going to be attached to it when she's 18. But, it really didn't dawn on me to look up information about it until after she turned 1.

It was then that I learned that many kids start going away from a bottle around this age. So for about a month now we've been trying to get away from the bottle. Oh well! That's what Kathryn gets for having a mommy who doesn't obsess about the "rulebook" of timelines.

So now we find ourselves in a Bottle Battle. Kathryn is a pro when it comes to drinking water out of a sippy cup. Easy peasy. However, once milk is that same sippy cup, it's all over. She only wants milk...in a bottle.

We've tried every sippy cup in the book: short ones, tall ones, one with handles, one that even kind of looks like a bottle - Kathryn can't be fooled.
We hadn't used the one with handles in a while, so tonight I brought that one out of the vault. It worked for about 2 seconds.
Kathryn found the sippy cup to be better used as a bracelet holding devise
Although I don't normally like to give in, I put the same milk from the sippy cup into a bottle. And what do you know - she sucked the whole thing down.
So now we continue the battle. I know it's not the most difficult thing we'll ever run into, but for now, it's what's on our plate...searching for the perfect sippy cup. Oh, how our priorities have changed.
